Karl Lampson


Karl is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Park and related support services. Karl coordinates marketing and tenant relations, lease negotiations, budgeting, procurement, capital construction/improvement projects and risk mitigation policies and procedures.

Karl has over 35 years of experience in higher education administration. Before joining Rensselaer, Karl served as Budget Director at Bard College and then later as the Associate Director for Administration of the Center for Curatorial Studies/ Hessel Museum of Art. During his tenure, he was the Project Manager for the renovation and expansion of the Hessel Museum.Karl assisted on several other projects and initiatives, most notably the construction of the Frank Gehry designed Fisher Center for the Performing Arts and the establishment of the Bard High School Early College programs in New York City.

Before arriving at Bard College, Karl served for 15 years as the Associate State Director of the New York State Small Business Development Center (SBDC) program, the largest continuing education program in NYS dedicated to entrepreneurship and small business development. The SBDC program network was comprised of 21 regional offices hosted by SUNY, CUNY and private schools throughout the state. As COO, Karl was responsible for all operational and fiscal strategies and controls of the network.

Prior to joining the SBDC program, Karl was Associate and then Acting Director of the Economic Development and Technical Assistance Center at SUNY Plattsburgh, an 18 county regional development organization dedicated to providing resources, assistance and strategies to  promote economic growth.
